Jeanne Irene Skytt (née Koropecki) passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the age of 92 in Calgary, Alberta.
Jeanne was born on August 9,1933 at Kindersley, Saskatchewan and was the only daughter to Steve and Katherina Koropecki. The family relocated to Rosedale, Alberta in 1934 where her parents successfully ran a general store in the town. She attended college in Calgary, where she pursued business accounting. After completing her studies, she returned home to work in the family business.
In 1953 Jeanne married Holger Skytt, as newlyweds they moved to their farm at Beynon and welcomed daughters Jacqueline and Suzy. After Holger’s tragic passing in 1959, she continued farming with and later married Richard Skytt in 1966. Together they welcomed two more children, Lola and Jeff. Sadly, Richard passed away in 1989, and Jeanne continued to farm with her son Jeff.
Jeanne showed remarkable resilience and dedication, overcoming deep personal losses while raising four children and contributing fully to the farming operation. She instilled strong values, honoured family traditions, and took immense pride in her Ukrainian and Danish heritage. A gifted and creative homemaker, Jeanne spent countless hours stitching personalized greeting cards, creating cross‑stitch and needlepoint pieces, and decorating intricate Pysanky. She also lovingly baked traditional Danish Kransekage cakes for the weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays of family and friends.
For 43 years, the Skytts were a host family with the International Agricultural Exchange Association, welcoming agricultural students from around the world. Jeanne was known for her gourmet field meals, her warm hospitality, and her joy in gathering family, friends, and neighbours. She was an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for her Calgary Flames, and watching figure skating, and baseball.
After retiring in 2001, she moved to Dana Village, Calgary, where she spent 23 years. Jeanne held various positions on the condominium board and was actively involved in the social committee. The Dana community sparked many new, cherished friendships, which led to Jeanne and her new friends traveling the world. In 2025, she moved to Aspen Heights Retirement Residence.
Jeanne is survived by her beloved children Jacqueline (Garnet Goertzen), Suzy (Bruce Schmidt), Lola, and Jeff (Jaclyn James) treasured grandchildren Brent (Sarah), Blaine (Paul), Anna-Lise (Brian), Shae-Lynn (Noah), Ryan (Ashlynn), Sydney, and Anaston. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jes Nielsen, cousins Sophie and Claudia, cousin-in-law Evelyn, nephews Stan, David, Rick, Donald, and Wade, and nieces Lois, Maureen, Judy, Bev, Kathy, Terri, Carolyn, Marny, Deborah, Jackie, and Laura.
She was predeceased by her husbands Holger and Richard, her parents Steve and Katherina, and in‑laws Hans and Marie Skytt.
